Josh Huff is Hungry

  • He just posted this on his facebook.

” Time to get back healthy for next season. Don't wanna fight through injuries like I did this year. Its my time. Legooo”

    And

” Every since I was little I've always had tht hunger to be the GREATEST & now tht I got tht go head from the man upstairs its time to get after I heal up. Spring Ball you will see a bigger , stronger, faster & complete football player”

  • A healthy Huff + LT gone = a big statistical increase, IMO.

It's a bit shocking when you think about how few times he touched the ball on offense. He had 31 receptions and no rushes, that's the same amount of offensive touches he has as a freshman (19 receptions, 12 rushes). It's also scary to think how good the offense was without Huff playing a major role.

  • I see huff as a huge asset next year, as a play making wr, a physical downfield blocker and a leader to the young wr corps. Big things coming, mark my words!

  • I love Huff but he needs to catch the damn ball

  • Oregon's routes benefit the number 1 receiver which he should be next year. Big things are coming!

  • Yes, a healthy Huff would be a hugely important element to the success of this team ... Oregon beats SC, and we very well could be playing in the Natty again, and Josh Huff's contributions will be a big key, and especially if LaMike (and maybe even Kenyon) are off to the League. Huff sounds determined ... GO for it, Josh !!! We're behind you a million percent !!!

He can be as big and as fast and as strong as he wants, but a receiver is only as good as his hands unfortunately. I hope he catches 1,000 balls a day to do along with his training. The potential is obviously there!

  • Huff knows that if he blows up next year he can go pro and make that money.

    DuckedUp

  • I agree with the above post about next year being Huff's #1 shot at making an NFL roster. He's got the raw talent, the athletic ability, and speed, but he just needs refinement. I keep forgetting that he was still only a true sophomore this year. Next year with a very talented team, and Darron having another off-season to develop into an even better QB, him and Huff should be doing workouts together. Get a feel for each other and come out next year, guns blazing. With LT and Paulson gone, and the possibility of both LMJ and KB gone, that seems to figure that DAT would be more in the RB role, and Huff would be our #1 WR and grouped with our redshirting WR's. Huff needs to be a leader out there next year and in practices and push himself. He has the tools, just needs to put them to use. Can't wait to see how he develops over the off-season. If DT keeps progressing like he has, and if Huff puts the hours in, they should be a very scary combo for defenses to help balance our offense.

  • He's got the talent and athleticism, he just needs to put the complete package together and mature.

    He'll be great next year.

    MoneyBeGreen

  • He may not get as many touches as we think if the redshirt freshmen step up, all three of those kids are very fast and great playmakers. I'd guess they'll spread it around a lot and hopefully Vaughn will step up next year as well.

It's not shocking at all, considering he would have twice the touches if he caught with his hands and not his chest. People actually think huff might go pro after this year? You have to catch the ball in the pros as well.

I do agree 100% with those that say he should be a RB. It's clearly his natural position. The kid is incredibly gifted, minus his hands like frying pans.

I agree with everyhing said here. He is a beast. He is fast. He needs to work on catching the ball, seems to freak out a bit if he hears footsteps..All that can be teached. His speed and bulk for 6 foot can't. I expect and wish him big things

  • So rumor was that Huff was battling some relatively minor stress fractures (if there are such things) in his legs all year. Rest will help, probably, but there's not much rest for the best. So what are his options for getting as healthy as possible? I hope he has a big future as long as it fits with the TEAM, we not me, etc.

  • Young kids with mad skills have to go through the toughest of times when they rae underclassmen. Injuries, ego adjustments, game reps and true understanding of the playbook are all tougher to handle for most of the younger guys. Huff's twitter post shows fight, resiliency. Being a junior next year means being higher on the depth chart, meeting leadership expectations and setting loose the animal within. This will be a great opportunity for Josh to show & prove. Great words. Now, get it done, son. Oregon believes in you. Love the fire.

    GO DUCKS!!!

  • Huff is a frickin stud, and I always thought he was better suited for RB.

But as we all know, RB has a log jamb of talent lined up, and there's only 1 football to go around.

Kudos to CK for getting his best players on the field and finding a place for Huff. He's a definite game changer when he's healthy and catching passes.

I look for Huff to have a monster year next year.....actually it's later "this" year. biggrin
