LSU paid Lyles $6,000 for recruiting service

  • That should make our season opener more intriguing... Wonder how much USC paid Lyles?

USC is like a german car, every piece that breaks is of the highest quality.

I'd be interested to know if USC paid Lyles as well.

  • So why is everyone saying Oregon was the ONLY team that bought his services? Was LSU's purchase 'off the record'?

    ducklefty

  • Because Brooks super secret informants told him UO was Lyles only client. Just shows that he is only out for shock and awe, and really doesn't care to paint a true picture of what UO did, just make us look bad enough to get hits on his blog.

  • LSU paid that for 2 states. We paid 25K for 22 states. Sounds like we were way out of line.....

  • Might have been more than the $6000 this year.

All it comes down to is this, if Oregon can produce the videos supplied by Lyles, case closed.

If we paid 25K for 22 states and they paid 6k for only 2...we got a great deal.

Nothing out of line about that at all...it's about what most national packages are for those services.

  • USC has worked with lyles in the past. They are a private school though, if I am not mistaken their payment records are not open to the public. There are plenty of schools who have dealt with lyles, that is why it was ridiculous how Oregon was being drug through the mud when this "broke".

  • I thought I had read that we purchased access to info that could be downloaded . . . similar to the service University of Washington paid $25,000 for. As much as Canzano, Brooks, Schroeder and the others want to see rooms of notebooks and videotapes all organized in 22 piles for 22 states, they might have to settle for coaches' computers and how many times game tapes and bits of info was accessed online.

  • Isn't it hard to quantify what information is worth? I ask because it seems to be kind of subjective. What if Oregon was having a hard time identifying who the top talent in a state was and then lacked the contacts to procure contact info. For a recruiting hotbed such as Texas that information could be worth a lot for a school located in Eugene, or.

Basically regardless of what they got, Oregon was satisfied enough to pay for the service. Also, regardless of what "evidence" they provide their will still be some who will challenge its validity.

The invoice from Lyles to Oregon said he was charging them for video from 22 states. So if they don't have video from 22 states, that would be a problem.

The thing separating Oregon is the relationship between Lyles and Lache and whether that was a factor in Lache choosing Oregon. It doesn't help that Oregon had an assistant coach visiting high schools with Lyles.

But like I said earlier, if Oregon can produce all the video supplied by Lyles, case closed. If Oregon can't produce the video however, that will be a BIG problem.

  • I don't believe it specified video in all states. I could be wrong. Also the invoice was apparently for 2011. Not 2010. So video may not yet have been delivered. Right?

The invoice stated Oregon payed $25,000 for the 2011 National Package, which included game film and highlight film from 22 states. The invoice also states the videos were shipped on 2/22/2010.

  • I think it's interesting how out of whack people say the invoice is. The fans and the media have jumped at the price of $25K for the recruiting videos and whether they spent too much money... The footage is specific and invaluable to coaches.
I've paid upwards of $200 a second for video work and b-roll footage (lesser amount), and $6,000 for a photo and other media... --- not saying this is totally apples and apples but doesn't seem like much to pay putting it in perspective.

There is nothing spectacular about this transaction. You can read into the invoice however you want, connect imaginary dots... the one and only thing I hold my breath about is whether there is proof that Miles steered a recruit to Oregon... all the rest is opinion, bias, ranting, speculation and maybe some jealousy.
