  • Mark Helfrich giving a "huge thanks" to the Oregon football assistant coaches. Says they've done a lot of work and saying it was a total team effort.

Helfrich says these are guys that you can build a program on. Helfrich says most of these guys are captains of teams and says they fit the Oregon mold.

  • Devon Allen - Really dynamic guy...world class hurdler...Track team really excited about him...From a great program.

Benoit - Just under 8 yards a carry...a guy that we always kept his eye on through this whole recruiting process. Elusive. Doesn't have the 100 yard dash but very product. Runs through a lot of arm tackles.

Doug Brenner - Obviously with Liz...we will try to recruit her. Comes from a great program. We know his family a little bit better. just a solid kid you want to hang out with. Plays tight end, defensive line, we anticipate center or guard. Vocal guy.

Carrington - Dad played for the Charges in the NFL...was under recruited for a while and then hammered late for some reason. Had a great all-star camp and all-star game...Very excited to see where he grows up. Going to fill out a lot more. Get bigger, faster, stronger with Radcliff.

Elijah George - IN the mold of a Jake Fisher type. A mean kid. Played in a double-wing offense. LIke his ability to run and a physical kid. HIs best football, again this is a guy that's 6-5 255, is ahead of him...

Dobbs - Led his team to the 5A state title game. Just under 3,000 yards passing, 28 or 29 touchdowns. Great program in Texas. Was a guy we had always been in contact with. A guy who can really throw it and run it.

Cameron Hunt - Great offensive lineman. Very excited for this player, road grader, very polished player. Very fantastic kid.

Danny Mattingly - Another versatile outside linebacker body type. 6-foot-5 225ish right now. Broken record, great kid.

Johnny Mundt - His family is in the nut business.

Jake Pisarchek - His coach has been a guy that’s come out to our coaches clinic the last few years and fell in love with the culture. We got involved with him a little bit later. Put on a ton of weight from his junior year to senior year. He didn’t have a lot of offers, we loved him, did our normal due diligence and he committed. Then the other wolves came in to get after him. Probably end up being a guard.

Prevot - TRemendous smile and then can really run and hit the quarterback. An outside linebacker, we see him in the role of Dion Jordan. Young body, athletic, physical, great tackler, finisher, caused a lot of fumbles. A lot of havoc.

Robinson twins - One is a little taller...Tyree just a very dynamic athlete. COuld play a lot of different places. Let them pick first. Tyree is a guy that just flourished. Tyrell is just a bigger version of the same. SEcond or third level athlete from the LOS. Played basketball. We will figure out where they will play.

Seisay - Another kid that’s long and skinny with a long stride. Coach Rad really loved his development capability as an athlete. HS coach couldn’t stop talking how tough he is. Did a great job in the return game. Played all over the map.

Tyner - Well publicized. Off the charts. World class speed. Had that one game 1300 yards and 12 touchdowns. The total package as a tailback. Physical guy, real good hands. Really excited to get him in the program

Voeller - A guy that got a ton better as his career went. ONe of those guys that got bigger throughout his high school career. Guard.

Walker - he came in in fantastic shape. Not always the case with newcomers. He has a case to replace. There’s some slots to be filled.

WIlliams - Cites his leadership and how great of a family.

Wogan - Big kicker with a leg. Good player.

  • Helfrich says they are holding a few scholarships for other reasons but not more players in the 2013 class. Says they have 2 or so spots left. THey could have taken another QB based on their QB needs but they wanted to space things out.

Not even Purcell if he ends up getting cleared?

  • Helfrich says Prevot didn't make his decision until today. Don Pellum was his lead recruiter and that the staff was very excited when he flipped to Oregon. Says the in-home visits went great leading up to the flip.

The coaches can't talk publicly about the specific recruiting process of a player. In other words, he couldn't mention Purcell or his specific situation. I would imagine that with Oregon helping in the appeal process, if the NCAA allows eligibility, Oregon will be a serious player for his commitment.

  • Haven't heard Helfrich speak much before. Really impressed with the guy. It seems like there is some Chip Kelly to how he says things. Overall I'm incredibly happy he's the guy for years to come.

Later on he said you never know and used a late qualifying JC guy as an example. I dont think the book is closed on a late qualifier.

  • I was really really impressed with the story he told about his in-home visit with Juwaan Williams.

Helfrich said that Juwaan talked for THIRTY MINUTES(!!!) about why he should come to Oregon & then he just committed. His mom was crying the entire time, both out of excitement of hearing him talk about why he should attend Oregon, because she was so proud of him, and then started crying again when he committed and realizing that he was going to go across the country.

So, Williams did commit to Helfrich on their in-home. :)

  • Anywhere the whole conference is posted yet? Links? Checked goducks.com and they have just the list iof sgness, but not the telecast.

    DuckDude

  • IF they qualify ... the Ducks could add Purcell and Vita Vea.

My guess is that Purcell will qualify but that Vea will not.
