Mundt commits to Oregon

    I think we're all missing probably the biggest factor in this pick up... Now during games at Autzen the crowd will be able to make the "MUUUUNDT!" call.... Similar to Gronk or Kuhn these days and Moose of past generations, it's clearly the most enjoyable, heathen drunk cheer in the game.

    All I was thinking the whole time I was watching his tape was how much of a high school version of Gronk he is, what a beast.

    Yup. Didn't have the most natural looking hands, but it's hard to tell from a little film. Coaches obviously know what they want in a TE. Can't hate a big, smart, athletic kid who likes to scrap.

  • Mundt looks like an incredible athlete, and it is nice to lock him up early in the process. The athletes that Oregon has brought in recently at tight end is really impressive.

    Of course I could have been wrong, but I wasn't. Thus is the stuff coincidences are made of.

  • Just thinking we should maybe look to take one more TE this cycle considering we lost White and French switching to D. A TE I'd love to see the staff go after is JUCO TE Beau Sandland. The kid is a true boss at TE and could come in and play ASAP. I'd only be interested in him if he has at least two years of play. I think he's as good as any TE coming out of high school right now. Lyerla, Bayliss, Brown, Mundt and Sandland. Oh I forgot about Daniel so maybe it's not too important, but I'd still like to see the staff go after him for his talent alone. He mentioned not too long ago that he was interested in Oregon and he had been in contact with thr staff. Might also be too late, but then again it's only July. What do you guys think? Mods(Justin, Matt, Chris:) have you heard anything on Sandland?

  • Just watched Mundt's junior year highlights for the first time. He is one tough dude. A perfect complement to the TEs we have now. I have a feeling that, after he redshirts, he will be a force to be reckoned with, especially in blocking situations.This just goes to show you that, while the rating system may have some predictive value, sometimes it completely misses the ball. Mundt will be very valuable to the team, and many of the qualities he brings to the table are intangibles that the rating system has a difficult time accounting for.

    He will be a great addition.

    Also consider that the rating system does not account for team need's, team chemistry, personality, intelligence, "right fit", offensive/defensive system or the coaches' philosophies.

    On the other hand, true talent and superior size, strength and speed go a long ways in CFB. But some guys have this and never get scouted, eg Cody Carriger.

    If we are gonna go for another TE...Josh McNeil would be my choice. But, seems as though we have slowed our roll with him.

    Well they could just take this guy rickk seals jones, i haven't seen his tape but he is rated super high and he's like 6.5 250 or something. That's TE territory for sure.
