  • Great points.

USC is like a german car, every piece that breaks is of the highest quality.

  • THIS was a team loss. Everybody failed to perform at a level you need in order to win.

  • This is extremely well put. I couldn't agree more. I have been saying on here and too my friends and family that this was more us beating ourselves than LSU. We will re-group, put 70 on Nevada and get these young guys more experience. We can still finish the season 11-1 and that to me is a great season.

    Go Ducks!!!

  • The Duck team is very young ... around 46 freshmen. Mathews will start for Philadelphia. Bair made KC's roster.
This was a huge away game against an outstanding, veteran LSU team. The Ducks ... particularly DT ... were over amped and out of synch from the opening kick off return on, which is not surprising. They are college kids and will not always "win the day."

They'll recover but will lose one or two more games. This team will peak in two years, 2013.

Put this in perspective: the Boise State loss two years ago was way worse!

    AMEN TO THAT!!!

Also you have to give LSU some credit as they did cause one of the fumbles because of DATs inexperience. It was sort of the same thing when Casey caused the fumble in the last minutes of the Natty. Came up behind Cam Newton and puched the ball out. More than anything most of it was unforced errors. 4 lost fumbles and 110+ yards in penalties gets you a loss no matter who you are playing IMHO.

Good point dkfnintn. While I think we did shoot ourselves in the foot (repeatedly) in this game, people seem to be forgetting that LSU did punch those balls out, recover the fumbles and make the necessary plays to score touchdowns afterwards.
Thomas, Barner, LMJ, and the recievers were not all just having "bad nights", they were facing one of the most talented defenses in the nation.

I know that we could have won this game but lets give credit where credit is due. LSU made the plays and we didn't.

  • Agree with all of the above. Refreshing after all the "hater fans" trashing our coaches and fans over at the Register-Guard. It's kind of like people believe Oregon is somehow entitled to beat any team and win the NC, and if we lose a game or have some setbacks then clearly something is drastically wrong with our game planning, level of effort, preparedness, recruiting, and heart.

Erase some of the big mistakes and that would have been a damn close game. I am excited to see this young team grow -- although I also really want to see our veterans show leadership over the next few weeks, starting with DT getting his A-game back on.

    GO DUCKS!

  • As I said on another thread, I agree completely about taking this and using it as a learning tool. The guys need to be pissed about this performance and use it as a spring board to beat the tar out of every opponent that they face from week 2 on. I focus mainly on the left hand side of the line as I think that is our biggest weakness. The D when they get Kiko and Cliff back will improve, DT, LMJ, KB, and the WR corps played their worst game I have seen in recent memory. The O-line has a place in all running/passing plays so we need to see a major improvement there.

confusedI agree totally with your comment the offensive line play needs to improve but our QB picked a bad time to play bad. Chip Kelly needs to tone it down a little bit and quit being so arrogant espesially when it comes to the BIG GAMES plain and simple Chip you havent been able to win the BIG ONES so humble yourself a little and quit telling us well they were a really good team yeah Chip weve heard that one every time after lets see the Rose Bowl against Boise ST the Natty AND NOW against LSU that doesnt bode much confidence for the fans so your saying if we make it to the Rose Bowl this year and thats a big if, Im sure the opposite Team we play will be good you just have to be better this time because my friend I think your not taking enough responsability for these losses and chalking them up to just plain better teams. No more excuses from the Guy that says he didnt do anything wrong with the recruiting of Lache Seastrunk, and I hope your right because that will set us back again so no more excuses Chip do your job better we should have won the Natty last year 2 field goals that would have won us the game instead of coming away empty handed because you wanted to run the ball every time up the gut and came up short. I believe your team needs better from you and thats just my opinion.
