i really thought this event would help boost Oregons recruiting and i think it will in the long run but this year USC commits seem to be using it as the perfect recruiting grounds to sway other players. We really could have used thomas tyner here as he doesnt seem to be such a reserved guy.

Bringing these kids to Oregon is huge. It's very nice advantage for Oregon football. We have a few guys there which is better than some teams have, plus since the event is so close to Eugene, several of the best players in the country are going to make it down to Eugene.

here's your two options...
1. USC dominates in recruiting because they have a critical advantage of local talent. There is no Opening, so many of the nation's top talent never even see's the state of Oregon, or associates Oregon with what has become one of if not the premier football clinic/combine for HS athletes. Thus many recruits never even get close to Oregon Football. Meanwhile USC recruits continue to recruit more talent in California, and at other HS football workshop / combines.
2. USC dominates in recruiting because they have a critical advantage of local talent. There is the Opening, so many of the nation's top talent actually visit the state of Oregon, which they now associate with what has become one of if not the premier football clinic/combine for HS athletes. Many of these same athletes take an extra day to visit UO and at least check it out...an unnofficial visit that wouldn't happen otherwise, and at the very least spreads what Oregon has to offer to other PSA's back home who become intrigued by UO. Meanwhile USC recruits continue to recruit more talent in California, and at other HS football workshop / combines.
Tell me how option #1 is better than option 2.
People need to get a grip, USC is USC and always will be. If you want to compete with the big boys you have to COMPETE with them, not expect a Nike event to do the work for you. And yes, the Opening is paying dividends to UO with many athletes visiting and our recruits meeting other kids and recruiting them in the state of Oregon where they can experience the weather and compare it to back home.

Agree BigDucker,
This season is primed to put Oregon on a whole different level.
Oregon is ranked in the Top 5 to open the season.
SC is ranked #1 by a lot of polls.
So if Oregon beats the Trojans in LA during the regular season in November, which with our QB gaining experience and the Trojans having possible struggles with depth issues by then, that could very easily catapult the Ducks into the Top 2 in order to play for the BCS title.
That then potentially places the Ducks as the host to play the Trojans in Autzen Stadium for the conference championship. Beat them again (TWICE IN ONE SEASON!!, A season that had SC start out ranked #1) and the Ducks will be seen as an even more elite program than they currently are, regardless of what happens in the BCS title game.
This is a huge year for Oregon and it's our last opportunity before the BCS moves to a four game play-off.

I agree.
But uh, UO are now big time as well. USC has more tradition, history, and more kids in the backyard. But UO has all that new age change uniform, Nike background thing. Kids love that. Really tho, at the end of the day, it's all about how u do on the field with what u got. UO does very well with what they got and will get killer recruits btwn now and NSD. U'll lose a couple to us and we'll lose a couple to you. It all works out at the end and the top teams will continue to be the top teams as usual.KeepOnDucking
