Oregon No. 4 in Coaches Poll

  • This crazy, but I think its coming together now. If we win and stanford loses next week, then they have more conference losses. Even if they hold the tiebreaker, we still have a better record. where we stand in the BCS is crucial. If we are at 4, we have a chance, if we are at 5, we have a small chance. But I think we will end up at 4th.

    We need Stanford to lose to UCLA and USC to beat Notre Dame. Stanford losing helps us for two reasons: 1) we have a chance to win the Pac-12 and possibly play in the Rose Bowl. 2) If ND loses we will likely need one more quality win to stay ahead of the Florida/Florida State winner in the computers. I know the computers don't like Florida St but if they beat a SEC power like Florida they may jump up a bit in both the computers and human polls.

    On top of all this, we need Georgia to lose. There are a lot of things that need to happen in order for us to have a chance to make it to MIami. Rooting fpr Stanford to lose and for us to have a chance to play in the Pac-12 Championship game seems like the logical thing to do.

    Stanford losing greatly benefits in many ways but its not needed for the natty depending on where we're ranked tonight and ND losing.

    You're right though as far as needing Stanford to lose for us to make the PACCG and the Rose Bowl.
