Oregon Releases Documents

  • UO released documents because of a request for public records. Sounds like there's nothing at all incriminating. Should be a bit of a good sign for the Ducks, unless there were some other information.

  • Hopefully so. maybe we can finally put this thing to rest once and for all.

    ducky2922

  • I would imagine that this wouldn't really put the whole ordeal to rest just yet. But unless something really fishy is uncovered here, it should help the UO's case that there is nothing to see here.

Also, I notice you haven't posted around here too much before. Not sure if you've gotten a welcome from everybody, but it's always nice to see new people posting here. I think the community here has really been going well lately and I think that it is making this site that much better.

True, but this is the only way to really know the evidence that the NCAA is looking over in their investigation.

  • I think it was the other article that I read this morning about the whole thing from Oregonlive.com Total waste. The title suggested that Oregon was withholding text messages from what they released and throughout the article it was implying something that didn't feel right. Then the last sentence said it was simply a mistaken date, and that AT&T was resending the correct dates. Absolute Rubbish journalism - no story!

Rant finished. I'm glad it looks like we are getting to the end of the whole media freak show. Sorry, now its finished:-)

Sounds like it has John Canzano's footprint all over it! He was on 'Sports Sunday' last night and did a comentary piece in which he implied the same things. He has continuously done this with the Ducks.

  • since when does someone have to have something posted on the webpage before they can offer it? I have all kinds of insurance in my agency but I do not show all the options of purchasing on my web page. I still sell them.

    jeffreynking

  • AT&T said they don't keep text messages so they can't release any to the UO or the media. The UO did provide all emails, and olive does have any email sent from Chips iphone and they can see nothing was ever said about buying a commitment from Lache. They even have all the recruits info and phone #, which of course they have printed on their worthless blog.

  • But one thing they have proven, and that is that the UO handed over every one of these documents they day after yahoo first ran the story on UO and Lyles back in march. So they have proven that UO has done nothing but cooperate with the NCAA throughout this process.

  • Willie's "2010 National High School Evaluation Booklet" covering the graduating class of 2011, (see page 2), is chock full of kids that graduated IN 2009!

    http://docs.google.com/viewer?...20REDACTED2.pdf

"A national recruiting package purchased by Oregon in February 2010 that included the player profiles for 140 players with the heading “Player Profile 2011” is made up of virtually all 2009 high school graduates." Oregonian

    http://www.oregonlive.com/duck...er_profile.html

According to the Oregonian only 3 out of the 140 graduated in 2010 ( a year supposedly not covered by the book), and none graduated after 2010.  This would tend to make a book, invoiced in March 2010, completely worthless.

No luck finding anything on either links. Am I alone in this?

Try the Oregon Live site if the link doesn't work.

  • Something doesnt sound right. I think there could be a number of reasons why the package would state 2011 when it was bought in 2009. The recruits are almost all from the class of 2009 and the article talks about things that happened after the packet was bought. Was Chip supposed to know these things before they happened? I think someone is taking things out of context or trying to make something out of nothing.

  • I'm confused on the whole situation. Unless Chip or the compliance office makes a statement we may never know.

  • Either Lyles ripped us off or we are trying to hide something. Not one bio was for a 2011 recruit? Unless we bought a 2010 package but didn't pay for it until after signing day?

I know everyone wants to assume we did things the right way but this appears to be really fishy. One of the players was even on Auburns team and played in the national title game. Clearly it does us no good to get a bio on a kid already in college...

Unless someone can explain this better to me I'm assuming this is bad.

  • I think we’ve all been dreading this for a while. The Alonso, Coleman, and Harris incidents don’t really worry me, as far as the NCAA is concerned.
Lyles seems to be a bit on the shady side and I’m not sure what to think about his involvement with so many of our athletes though. I may be a blind faith homer when it comes to Chip Kelly but I find it hard to believe that he would purposely do something that was not legit. Right now it’s hard to tell exactly what’s going. My questions are: What was Lyles’ involvement with our players? Why did we pay him so much more than any other recruiting service and what did we receive in return?

Were we ripped off by this guy or was he really worth the money? I sure hope it all checks out because there are some discrepancies that don’t quite add up.IMO

I noticed on another site someone mentioned that along with the package it gave the buyer acess to numerous online information regarding recruits, info, video, notes, etc... Basically it said not all the info was i ncluded in the paper packet.

  • Ken Goe says we also paid for video (that was not released) and access to password-protected online video. We decided not to go with Lyles another year . . . maybe it's because we didn't get our money's worth.

    billm

  • Willie Lyles says he started his own business in December 2009.

January 9, 2010 he went with Lache Seastrunck to the US Army All America Bowl in San Antonio. Yet, Elite Scouting Services says they instructed him to go to the college coaches convention at that time. He was fired by Elite Scouting Service in January, 2010 after the unauthorized January 9th trip to San Antonio.

January 27, 2010 Seastrunk commits to Oregon.

February 3, 2010 Seastrunk and Dontae Williams, another Lyles' client sign LOI's for Oregon.

Feb. 22, 2010: Lyles, on Complete Scouting Services letterhead, bills UO $25,000 for the "2011 National Package." which turns out to be completely worthless since in includes all 2009 high school kids.

March 24, 2010: UO issues $25,000 payment to Lyles, knowing he has only been in business for himself for two months and could not possibly collected anything of value in that length of time due to copyright laws.

Now UofO cannot find any videos that Willie provided them claiming they are all mixed in with other services and were downloaded from his online website. Willie Lyles did not register his online website until March, 2010.

    dukeb15

  • Who said we can't find any videos? Do you have a link that that little nugget? Your fark was "created" by a huskie.

$25,000 also included access to a database, scout services, and game film and highlights (access via a password-protected video database). I'm not sure how one "documents" how many times coaches accessed the database or if they got $25,000 out of it . . . since they didn't get it with Lyles' old packet of information.

Right. That could be a valuable tool. It would cost a lot and take a lot of time to put together all of those videos and info.
