Also, I have a friend in the compliance office at U of U. When this story broke a few months ago, we talked and he told me that the NCAA needs viable evidence to sanction a program. Either by documentation, personal statement, or confession. If they decide to penalize a program on a hunch or rumor then they risk a law suit by that program. And without evidence the program would win.

It's clear now that the NCAA doesn't need actual proof to levy sanctions. In the USC case, they decided Todd McNair (USC assistant coach) knew or should have known about Bush's violations based on a 2 min 30 sec phone call from Lake to McNair. They never even questioned McNair about the correct date of the call (when talking to him they said the call took place a year after it really did). And when talking to Lake, he claimed it was McNair who called him, even though the records showed it was Lake who called McNair. Additionally, the NCAA classified Lake as a booster to USC despite his only connection being paying Bush to leave the university.
So unless Oregon can produce a whole bunch of videos from 2011 recruits across the country provided to them by Lyles, the NCAA has all they need to sanction Oregon. I'm not saying the NCAA would be right in doing so, I'm just saying they could if they wanted.

Not really...I can think up a million different scenarios for how the conversation might have gone. Here's just one example:
Chip: "Hey Willie. Just wondering if you've spoken to or heard any thing new from LaMichael lately?"
Lyles: "Not much...he's been laying low. Talking options over with his coaches and family. Could be making a decision in the next few days"
Chip: "Ok thanks."
Lyles "No problem."
Next Day...
Chip: "One other thing...we're interested in another young RB, Tra Carson (teammate of James). Just want to get a sense of how he's looking. Have any film/info on him yet?" (This actually counts as 2 texts...over the 140 character limit)
Lyles: "Right...the young freshman. Seems a little raw right now, but showing great potential. Nothing in the database yet, but I'll see if I can pull something together for you." (Another 2 texts)
Chip: "That would be great. We gotta start looking at these guys when their young and see how they develop. Thanks Willie."
Lyles: "Again, no problem. I'll get going on the Carson info/tape in the next week."
Chip: "Sounds good. We'll be in touch in the next week or so."
Lyles: "Ok...talk to you soon."
And there ya have it. 12 texts over two days...nothing incriminating or nefarious. Simply just asking about info... Or like I said, it could be any number of other conversations that had absolutely nothing to do with James.
Seriously...you're trying to make the implication that 12 texts (that just happened to be a couple days before James committed) could be nothing other than some under the table dealings. Without content and context, 12 texts don't mean jack.

Just to clear something up. The NCAA is not investigating Oregon at this time. Not saying they wont but they have had this info for several months and have yet to even inform Oregon of an imminent investigation. Everyone is getting a little ahead of themselves because of the media feeding frenzy the last couple of days.

USC is like a german car, every piece that breaks is of the highest quality.

Yes, that was on KJR up in Washington too. What I would like to know 6DyNasTy6 is why you have such a morbid fascination with the Ducks. Everytime something on Lyles surfaces you are the first to post it to our forums and stir the pot. Granted you aren't the usual self-absorbed, delusional SC fan, but the question begs: Is it misery loves company, envy or the PAC 12 brotherhood that leads you to share information with your brothers from the North?

I maybe talk to Jhop 2 times a week and we have probably texted each other 400 times in the last 2-3 months just setting up man hour. It doesn't take much to send a dozen text figuring out what place to get a good beer at. Speaking of which it's 96 out here in Medford and I need a beer.

Ohh for crying out loud! You've lowered yourself down to using Clownzano as a source?!? At one point you were a respectable poster (I recall the DAT situation) what happened?
And when did the Clown get hired to be our AD because that's really the only person who could tell us Chip's future with our team....Without completely speculating of course.
