Do not assume logic will rule. After all this is college football!
That said, the most likely scenario is:
1. A PAC West 16 with two divisions. The Pacific Division includes the original PAC 8. The Western Division includes TX, TX Tech, AZ, AZ State, CO, Utah, OK and OK State. Nine conference games played with 6 in the same division and 3 in the other division;
2. A 16 team SEC with TAM, FSU, Clemson and GA Tech added;
3. A Big 16 with ND, KU, Rutgers and MO added;
4. A 16 team ACC with FSU, Clemson and GA Tech subtracted and Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Cincinnati, Louisville, West Va, Syracuse and South FLA added.
That would leave many orphans looking for rickety shelters. It would also lead to anti-trust litigation.
USC is like a german car, every piece that breaks is of the highest quality.
