  • not so ... good is good ... what you see, is what you get ... (BTW, I've been evaluating basketball talent, professionally, for 30+ years, for colleges, coast-to-coast) ... I know, this is football, but talent is talent.

You are right. He does look good in his highlights, but like G&Y said you do have to take into consideration the competition he's up against and highlight videos are made to make kids look good.

That's why I like watching highlights of kids full games. No editing so you really get a good idea of what we're working with. Thr video I watched he was clearly dominating his man, but his man is a thin, 220 lbs DE who did not look very good at all so it makes sense why a big boy would look good against him.

Actually Jake was the biggest kid on the field for either team so the competition didn't really seem to be there. Hard to get a good evaluation off of his video alone. What will he do against an All Conference DE that is 6'4", 285lbs? I think we're just going to have to wait and see with this kid.

From what I've gathered, he has good size, athleticism(TE a year before), decent footwork, but since he's only played on the OL for one year, I'm sure he's a bit raw. He has the attributes though to have good upside. Hopefully he's coachable. I think he'll be a project for Wood, but will be okay when called upon in a couple years.

Funny a 2* has solid highlights and people put him down, yet when a 4* looks good everyone is gaga about him. I don't even want to list all the 4* who did nothing at UO, but lets just say people put way to much stock in stars. Star rankings can't rate heart, desire and work ethic.
