  • how does LGB fumbling off his foot against tOSU have anything to do with being a big back that can get tough yards?

Nothing. The whole argument is silly.

are you guys really telling me that big backs dont produce tough needed yards and on 1 and goal from the 3 yard line twice, LGB couldnt have gotten in. ive seen him run through guys as big as fairley in the league and also watched him stiff arm stephen paea. give me a break. to sit here and say a big back that can get you tough yards isnt necessary makes me question your football intelligence.

That said, as a bigger back, LGB required good blocking up front in order to pick up momentum in the run game- Fairley interior penetration from the defensive line would have likely neutralized LGB in the title game as well (see the Boise State game among others). Yet, when he did have time to pick up his speed, you are correct in that he was tougher to bring down.

i agree that in the boise state game their entire line was in LGBs face as soon as he touched the ball but there were multiple carries given to KB in the title game where he didnt get hit till the line of scrimmage and had it been LGB he probably would have pushed through for 2 yrds and a touchdown.

i actually worry about those tough yrd situations this year because i had faith in Lamichael to get them but barner worries me. i cant think of one run in his entire career where he ran through or stiffed armed a guy. he can get through an arm tackle from the side but thats about it.

  • Kenjon needs to learn to anticipate contact and get lower. I think it's something we're likely to see him get a lot better at this year. Surely he is not unaware of the perception of his running style. If he really wants to make it in the NFL, he will be out to prove he is a physical player. And saying that Kenjon has "never" earned yard hards after contact is just absurd hyperbole. He has come in numerous times and picked up tough first downs. He needs to get better, and I'm the first to complain about his finesse style, but come on.
