Thomas bolts for NFL, what now?

  • who cares why he left, he's gone. Bad decision but we can now look forward to what we have. I personally am excited about MM. His youtube videos are sick and I look forward to the hawaii native being are starting QB.

  • Thomas left. So what. He was a fill in. Bennett will be a difference maker. What's done is done, move on

You and SevenOaks bring up a good point about feeling a little sad to see some of our favorites leave.

Unfortunately we have to do it every year. Hell, I still miss Joey Harrington, Haloti Ngata, Jonathon Stewart, and Jeff Maehl, among many others.

The great thing is that we get the chance to see new stars emerge before our eyes. Who knows what kind of amazing thing DeAnthony Thomas is going to do? Maybe Bennett will lead a fourth quarter comeback and hit Tacoi Sumler in the endzone as time expires to beat the #1 ranked Trojans!

The possiblities are limitless. In some ways I'm kind of glad that it wasn't Clay, Boyett or Jordan that left. I think our defense is poised to be very good next year and losing one of those guys would have been a major blow.

It's always hard to say good-bye to guys that have created so many incredible memories but it's kind of exciting to know that there are going to be new memories to look forward to.

This is very correct. Nobody knows who is going to be the next great playmaker. It's going to be exciting to find out! I have great confidence in BB and he absolutely has all of the physical skills to be better than DT. Just the unknown will be his decision making and mental competency. I think he has looked great though in his short time on the field.

Joe Schad is an idiot.. Darron wouldn't have had to fight anyone. How many times would Chip have had to repeat, AGAIN, that Darron was the starter? You don't bench someone with his record

Now Joe Schad is the idiot. Along with Biggins, Goe, and every other person who gets paid to report information. Some of you posters need to understand that you may not know everything.

lol who are you even? He reported a rumor from a random source, about something we all know isn't true. And I like Biggins, never mentioned any other journalist

  • I'm still shocked by his decision but I'm excited to have a runnig threat at QB, DT was fine just not great.

  • Darron Thomas' decision to go pro was deeply personal ... balancing money, family, academics, friendships, injury potential and future growth of professional quarterbacking skills. He has already completed 3 1/2 years of college plus several summer school sessions. He's been through four spring practices and four full seasons, one as a second year redshirt.

None of us know how the above factors, particularly family circumstances, affected Darron's decision. It is hard to see how he could grow more in terms of NFL potential as a fifth year Duck as opposed to working at football full time as a part of an NFL, CFL or taxi squad team.

Most of us went to college. All of us who went to college thought about dropping out at some time and probably would have if offered the opportunity to pursue our chosen career while getting paid even NFL practice squad wages. Also consider that Darron Thomas was raised by a single Mom who lives thousands of miles away and that he has essentially completed degree requirements.

From our perspective as fans Darron's decision was crazy. From his perspective it makes total sense.
