  • In no way take this as an attack on you. But instead of attacking someone continuously on their grammar or intelligence just block them. Its pretty pathetic seeing all the hate towards the poor guy. Sure he might not win poster of the year but he is obviously trying to figure out this recruiting thing. Just give the guy a break. And if his posts piss you off that much, just block him.

I agree duckraider!! If peoples grammar sucks, who really cares?? People need to leave fellow duck fans alone, this is a freaking recruiting site, not some online course for a phd!

I care, in my head I'm the freakin grammar police. But you're right that the ignore button can solve a lot of problems.

  • Just a thought here because I have zero knowledge about 827 but WHAT IF its a kid? What if 827 is a 11 year old girl that LOVES the Ducks and just wanted to talk to the board about recruiting andthe Ducks? Would you still criticize the grammar? Most likely 827 isn't but you never know who is on the other side of the post so just be cautious when criticizing someone. You may turn a youngster into a Beaver fan. After all, they all talk like that.

  • It's probably from being picked on as kids, so they have to try and down play someone else (online) to make themselves feel better. It's also pretty obvious that he was posting from his phone and if you double tap the space bar it will put periods in instead...I've done it myself. So, how about we worry about Ducks sports and recruiting like we all pay for instead of berating a fellow Duck who is just trying to figure out recruiting.

On the other hand, 11-year-olds shouldn't be on here. lol

  • There's a point with grammar where it gets so bad that a person is unable to convey the information they're trying to. Even small mistakes such as you're/your, there/their/they're, and should've/should of can be very jarring for a reader, so much so that more attention is spent on the grammar of the post rather than the message. There's no problem if you can write well enough to convey your point, but I feel many people underestimate how distracting common mistakes can be.

Furthermore, most people want their posts to be taken seriously and with respect. But, if your posts are constantly riddled with common grammatical errors, people will begin to assume that you are poorly educated and will probably fail to treat your ideas with the respect they deserve.

Everyone has a right to he here. If they pay the monthly fee they have a right to he here. So just because someone isn't as smart as you think you are or as old as you are or hasn't followed recruiting as long as you have means they shouldn't be here?

Give me a break! There is no application to fill out to become a member of this site. You don't have to take the Wunderlich test or prove your recruiting knowledge to get in. Lord knows if that was the case over half of this board would have never made it. Get over yourselves.

Caps lock, but people might start thinking that you're yelling and not focus on the main point.

Not sure how this is relevant but it's funny...I wonder if he writes that way in class as well.

Teacher: DeAnthony, why do you always use all caps?

    DAT: CUZ, I'M DEANTHONY THOMAS

Teacher: Good point. Good work son. Don't be late for practice.

  • I think everyone needs to relax about correcting people's grammar, I can only imagine what people think of mine. We are all Duck fans and just trying to enjoy our team and if you differ from another poster so badly just put them on ignore, as others have suggested...he'll I do that with Hines, that guy he just brutal!

AND just so NO to capslock....please unless you have a REAL reason to use it :)

No, it's because I don't think children that young should be on internet forums. You can get off the pedestal now.

Lol. I'm not the one on a pedestal. You night want to go look in the mirror. And unfortunately you don't get to decide how old is old enough. Maybe daddy bought a years subscription as a birthday gift.
I haven't read the site rules recently but I doubt I missed an age requirement.

Well you obviously trust the internet with young kids much more than I do. Moving on...

No but its not yours or my decision to make who posts here. They pay so they can post. Whether or not anyone likes it.

    DuckedUp

  • Disappointing that we lost a duck fan from our site. I hope he still chooses to follow and eventually decides to post again.

I am not the grammar police, but holding a degree in English it absolutely drives me nuts when posts are littered with errors in spelling/punctuation/etc. I don't believe I've ever really called anyone out on it before though (except maybe Maitai...our famous run-on sentence master).

At the end of the day I just feel that 827 had incredibly thin skin and was not prepared to be on this type of forum. Most people that spend time on these boards are pretty hard core duck fans and that is sometimes accompanied by confrontation when posters seem uneducated on our teams and sports. Sometimes these confrontations are justified and sometimes not. If 827 ever feels like joining an online community in the future again, I suggest he toughen up quite a bit. What he experienced was somewhat brought on by his posts and was nowhere near as bad as most attacks I've seen here or any other online forum for that matter.

Go Ducks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (just for you JRIV)

and come on back 827...you can make it here!
