  • turnovers were our ultimate downfall in this game. Kelly does indeed have some problems getting his offense up to speed in these big games where the other team has an extended. Fortunately only ASU and Cal have a defense in the PAC 12 that can even dream of containing us and neither is very good. Beat Stanford and hopefully we can redeem ourselves in the Rose Bowl

  • Kelly was not the issue at all. In fact, I was very impressed and proud of how he was dealing with the players during the game. The fumbles, penalties and drops did not occur because he call a bad game. We just played a bad game. It happens.

  • I call bullshit, the playcalling was piss poor.

Personally I didn't see anything from Kelly that tells me he lost this game for the Ducks. What I did see were way too many penalties, too many turnovers and a hostile environment inside Cowboy Stadium. I have faith that Oregon will turn things around and still have a good season.

Questioning a fellow Duck and telling him that he is wearing green and yellow glasses just because he doesn't agree with you that OUR coach is a disappointment makes you look silly. No Oregon didn't play a very good game, but why throw fuel on the fire? If you no longer like rooting for Oregon (and that includes one of Oregon's most successful coaches) so be it. But that doesn't give you the right to come here and denegrate a fellow Duck (L. Perry).

Frankly I believe that Kelly, more than anyone, hates losing these games. For that reason I think he will eventually turn that around in the future. You must be fairly new to Duck football. For us oldtimers we appreciate the fact that our team is now constantly in the National picture of college football.

    Go Ducks!

  • Go ahead and down vote me for saying the truth and talkin real...I want oregon to succeed as much as everyone else but I can see thru clear eyes and oregon with chip HASNT won on the big stage as much as I have hoped they would.....

  • Well he has gotten to the big stage more consistently than anyone else. Two for two. I also find it funny that so meaning people always think that their perspective is the truth. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't but it is good that you express what you think.

My perspective is that Kelly is doing just fine.

  • we NEED to stretch the FIELD!!!!!

    Back in Quack

  • I love the Ducks, I really like chip BUT you have to be honest about our nonconference big games schedule....WE HAVE NOT WON! I just want to win the Pac 12 and WIN the rose bowl but i think only a Rose Bowl win against a nonconference team is going to change my mind. LSU offense really wasnt very good we made them look good with TO inside the 30 but i was dissappointed in the play calling. We at least need to try and stretch the field just to get the D moving back at least a few yards....5 yard outs isn't gonna get it done for us....Poor showing by the ducks overall but the season isn't over...just need to make adjustments and win the Pac 12.

  • What it takes is realizing that the big stage tends to have bigger better teams going against you. You are not going to win them all. It seems we are winning more now than ever before. We are also losing more than ever before. How can that be.... we must be playing on the big stage more now.

    jeffreynking

  • Hey, I like you gang_green. Don't take this the wrong way. Sure, I would have liked to have seen a few plays called differently but overall, that was not the reason we lost. Turnovers and penalties were the number one reason. The LSU offensive line and running game were the other reasons we lost. Cliff Harris being out may have hurt us, as T-Mitch didn't have any int's and got beat a couple times. There were many reasons we lost. Chip's play calling was not the biggest though. Unfortunately, we are not, athletically and physically, on par with the top SEC teams. Hopefully that will change over the next year or two. Let's just hang in there and not turn on each other. We'll be ok. It was a painful loss no doubt.

  • I'm not disappointed is Chip. He came from a 1-AA school. He is learning like everyone else about the top level of play and the preparation that goes into it.

I have no doubt that Chip is the right guy for us. But he will have to learn and adjust.

Do you only remember the games we've lost on the "BIG" stage?

    Duckit

  • TO and penalties are always our problem and that starts with coaching...discipline i feel. We didn't lose cuz of chips play calling but tonight wasn't his great effort either...Athletic Lineman are what you have to have consistently to compete at the top year in and year out and right now we just don't have them...yet i hope :)

I want the wins as much as everyone else...but im not nieve enough to dis credit that we haven't won on the national stage... we will win those eventually ( hopefully) but our losses continue to fuel the fire of the SEC homers that talk shit about oregon football, unfortnatley!

    Who cares? Let 'em.

All this means is that we either fight to get back to Natty and win it, or win the Rose Bowl. It'll shut people up. That's what you work towards.

    MoneyBeGreen

  • IMO take away the 3 fluke turnovers and this is a different game. It wasn't like LSU beat us to death. We had the Barner fumble and the 2 DAT fumbles that led to 21 pts. Those are mistakes that can be fixed. I strongly believe that we are meant to play with the big boys. We have the talent, but we were lacking from an experience standpoint. Chip will find the mistakes and fix them. I thought our defense is the real deal, they were just put into some bad situations that even the best defenses can't overcome. I think that DAT is going to be a stud. He has all of the tools to become a star. He will learn from these mistakes and will be better from it. I am extremely excited to be in Autzen stadium next weekend and cheer on our Ducks! We still have a lot to fight for. Who knows, maybe we can run the table and meet LSU again. Go Ducks!!!

    Who downvoted you? Not me.

I would question your assumption about Kelly not winning on the national stage. Going 12-0 last year was pretty impressive. So was the comeback against Arizona the year before last. What about the nationally televised comeback win over Stanford last year?

Hell, I hope Oregon wins every championship every year in every sport. I guess that means I'm disappointed in Oregon sports in general. Fire 'em all I say. Yeah, that's the answer. On a serious note, Chip Kelly has raised our football program higher than any other previous coach. So is that what you are saying? Fire Kelly because he lost to Stanford, boise state, ohio state, auburn and lsu? Hell, I've got a better idea; why don't we just shut down the football program all together.

Frankly I think I see as clearly as you do, if not better. You are the furtherest thing from a realist. I know, let us hire Dick Enright back as our coach.

  • ... and it wasn't like we lost to Sacramento St.. This is a big-time top-5 program that we lost to in a hostile environment. We have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Chip Kelly is building something really special here and these things take time.

    Go Ducks!!!

  • I love chip as a coach as much as anyone else, don't get me wrong! Im just Saying we have not won the games in the national spot light... u can't disagree with me, yes we went 12-0 last year,,, we lost the NCG to auburn,,, lost to Ohio state in the rosebowl and lost to boise state... My point was that when the spotlight is fully on Oregon, we don't win those games, and I can't figure out why!
