Oregon adds Brazilian Forward

Last Tuesday, Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks landed a verbal commitment from Jordan Bell out of Long Beach Poly high school and DuckTerritory.com hinted that it was the fist known public commitment.

Dana Altman found an interesting prospect from Brazil with international experience.

This Tuesday, the Ducks landed their third known public commitment from Cristiano Felicio out of Pouso Alegre, Mingas Gerais, Brazil. Felicio is a 6-foot-9 and 240 pound forward. Felicio signed his national letter of intent today along with A.J. Lapray.

Felicio was a standout player for Brazil's U-19 team at the FIBA Tournament in 2011 where he averaged 9.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game playing center. That summer, Felicio also played in the Nike Global Challenge in Hillsboro, Ore. Matched up against 2012 five-star power forward Anthony Bennett, Felicio scored six points and grabbed nine rebounds. In the three game Nike Global Challenge exhibition, Felicio averaged nine points and 10.3 rebounds for a Brazil team that ultimately placed fifth.

Felicio played basketball for the Brazilian basketball club Minas Tenis Clube and said in an interview done by FIBA.com last summer that his decision to play college basketball was a tough one.

"It was not easy," Felicio told the website of moving to the United States. "I needed to make the decision so I could meet other challenges."

In eight games during the U-19 Tournament, Felicio shot 75.6 percent from the field, with his best game in the tournament coming against Latvia when he had 10 points, 10 rebounds, three steals. and three blocked shots in 28 minutes. Against Austraila, Felicio tallied 16 points, 12 rebounds, two blocked shots, and one steal in 30 minutes of action.
